Clinical Placement

Today was my first day on Clinical Placement for Uni. I have been allocated a ward at Bankstown Hospital.
At first I was so nervous going in, I really didn't know what to expect and how the nursing staff would be with a student following them around lol
I was placed with a lovely registered nurse who had a great connection with the patients.
I was first shown around the hospital and the ward and pretty much where all the "important stuff" are. It wasn't long before I was asked to take a patient vital signs.
I ended up taking blood pressure, oxygen, heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature on a number of patients. It was such a great experience to be able to put some of the skills I've leant to practice on real people not dummies !!
I also got to do things like change bed sheets, clean an area after an infectious patient has left, and just talk with patients and try and make their day a little better :)
Today has made me want to just hurry up and finish my degree so I can start working as a nurse. I can see im going to absolutely love the job and cant wait ! looking forward to what's to come

Kayla :)
