When Reality Hits

Reality.
It bites, hard.
I am 24, I have a 3 Year Old, I am in the process of Toilet Training said 3 Year Old.
Accident wise she is pretty good at home and we have had successful trips to the the local shops, and a trip out a bit further and for longer to Playgroup, then to Lunch, then to Shopping, with NO ACCIDENTS!!!! I'm very proud, who would have thought i'd ever have been proud of such a common bodily function.

Reality came the day after our big accident free day out at Playgroup when we went off to Swimming Lessons, Mummy forgot to ask if there was a need for the toilet when we arrived at the train station, then we hopped off the train and began the short walk to the Swimming Pools, by the time we had reached the crossing at the set of lights to cross over to the Swimming Pools, I hear "Mummy what did i do wrong?" While we wait for the green crossing man, I look down and see her shoes filled with wee and her pants all wet, "Nevermind, we're almost at Swimming Lessons, It's not your fault Mummy forgot to take you to the toilet at the station" So we cleaned up got changed and waited for lesson time, then as we were about to finish the lesson and hop out of the pool, I ask if she needs to poo, she replies no, then 5 minutes later as she is getting out of the pool I notice a huge poo falling out of her swim shorts and one on the bottom of the pool. The Instructor hands me some paper towel to pick up the poo from the edge of the pool, then she calls over the Lifeguard to scoop out the poo at the bottom of the pool (Mortifying). So we head into the change rooms to clean up and get dressed for lunch, during lunch there were a few tantrums and we had a few moments because i refused to buy her chips for lunch as we had a packed lunch that day and she had already eaten some earlier, after lunch we head over to the park, clever girl climbs all the way up to the top of the climbing frame, then i see it raining wee, so down she climbs to get changed, i head over to the most disgusting public toilet ever (I mean honestly disgusting, i could have vomited on entry) to rinse out her shoes in the sink up there (don't worry i didn't leave her alone at the park i was with the other TR Mummies), then when I return she is ready to go play again, we had a few moments where she wasn't listening and needed to be talked to and then we have another accident, i'm out of clothes, underwear, pull ups and patience. So we make the 10 or so minute walk to the local shopping centre to buy a new dress and a packet of pull ups, and some wipes. $30 later, I decided to sit down at McDonalds (totally deserved the 1&1/2 Cheeseburgers, and Chocolate Sundae, Plus Drink after all that, don't worry Little Miss got something too) for a rest. I was feeling stressed and was definitely out of patience. After that we headed home.

I have to be honest, about halfway through all that i was starting to get a little cranky and probably could have handled myself better instead of getting snappy, but i guess we all have those days where we are pushed to our limits and often think "I could have handled that better" but you do the best you can at the time and try better next time to improve, and oh yes there will be a next time, always is with kids, you need to take each day as it comes.

So that's me for now!
